It’s a chance to explore academic interests, engage with student life, and envision yourself as part of the Colonel family before your first day on campus. Wilkes University Theatre presents the satirical musical comedy Urinetown:

In this side-splitting satire, water is scarce and Hope is even scarcer. Set in a dystopian world, citizens must pay a fee to access the public amenities, the only place to legally use the restroom. These facilities are run and monitored by the richest of society. In a wave of revolution, the poorest and filthiest of these amenities becomes a number one site for major change.

With an incisive score by Tony winner Mark Hollmann, hilarious lyrics by Hollman and Tony winner Greg Kotis, and a plot with thrilling twists and turns, Urinetown is an “audacious and exhilarating” (The New York Times) take on the classic story of a ragtag group of underdogs coming together against a corrupt power. In this Tony-winning musical, nothing is safe from criticism — capitalism, politics, the establishment, the anti-establishment, and even musical theater itself!

These elements may affect audience members who are sensitive to atmospheric effects or flashing lights. Viewer discretion is advised.
